Actual Reality to reopen Castle Toward

At a meeting yesterday between Argyll and Bute Council and Actual Reality, operators of the outdoor education provision at Cowal’s Castle Towar, it was agreed that the Centre will reopen on Monday 1st March.

It will reopen in full operation, including residential courses.

A search of For Argyll under ‘Castle Toward’ will recover our extensive reporting on this subject, detailing the controversy that has surrounded its closure by the Council in the last quarter of 2009 and the public reaction to the Council’s proposed sale of the property.

The sale is to go ahead and is expected to be advertised on the open market shortly. Actual Reality, which has been in discussion with the Council, openly wishes to buy part of the property and expects competition from developers.

The South Cowal community – and the supporters worldwide of Castle Toward and Actual Reality – remain concerned about the future of this much loved property, its continuing accessibility and its profound value to the local community.
