Mhairi Killen’s Absent Voices speak in Shetland, Inverness and Glasgow

The Tobermory arts centre, An Tobar, commissioned the Absent Voices exhibition from artist Mhairi Killen in 2009.

This gave audiences a glimpse of the work of one of Scotland’s most exciting emerging artists.

Mhairi Killen’s work is a marriage of contemporary visual art with traditional crafts. She uses it – sometimes through an archaeological motif, to explore themes of identity, memory and journeying. Through this she offers keys to the cultures of some of Scotland’s significant and remote places.

The Absent Voices exhibition is now on tour from Mull to:

  • Bonhoga Gallery, Shetland: 9th January – 7th February
  • Inverness Museum & Art Gallery: 27th March – 24th April
  • Collins Gallery, Glasgow: 28th May – 26th June
