Council salt supplies are adequate and delivery due Friday

With the unpredictably long cold spell not looking anywhere near over, the good news is that Argyll and Bute Council’s salt supplies have held up to the demands of keeping the major roads open. The council has deployed them carefully to make sure of this.

There are currently some 1,500 tonnes of salt in stock at 16 separate locations, with more due to arrive on Friday.

In addition, the Council has ordered a further 5,000 tonnes from its supplier – which it hopes will have arrived by the end of next week.

And prudence in the way the salt stock is used will continue to be necessary as the duration of this weather system is not precisely forecast.

  1. this minor spell of bad weather in Argyll & Bute has exposed the pathetic inadequacy of the SNP run council with gritting all but non existant on many roads and pavements and many other areas dangerous in the extreme due to their being ignored by A&B Council .

  2. What a ridiculous comment Kintyre1. What has the cold snap got to do with the SNP? In fact do you honestly think any Council is coping with this weather?

I wish you would remove Kintyre from your name. Your an embarrassment to the good people with you ridiculous posts on here!

  3. The word is “non existent”.

    It’s so obvious it’s a wonder I didn’t notice it before.
Since the SNP got into power the weather has got worse.
And Salt Not Provided is probably what SNP means.
Have you told Dick Walsh the SNP is running the council?
    He thinks he is.
