Time for Argyll to come to the aid of the party – Oban Hogmanay, that is

The organisers of the 2009 Oban Hogmanay party have issued a strong call for people to buy their tickets to the gig within the next 2 days.

In a recession, all businesses need to keep their cash flow in good order and the Hogmanay event organisers cannot continue their own contractual commitments to others over the 2009 event unless they have sold 2,000 tickets by Saturday 12th December.

Even for Argyll’s renowned last-minute-itis, £12.50 for an adult and £6 for a child (children under 5 go free) is a modest layout to secure the chance to see 2010 in with the party of the year.

The hard truth is that if we don’t buy our tickets before Saturday, there won’t be tickets to buy and there’ll be no party because it will be cancelled.

So – for Donnie Munro and his 6-piece band, for Tiree’s award-winning band, Skerryvore, for the Jack Daniels Experience, the Argyll Gaelic Choir… and the fireworks showered at midnight over the town from its crown of McCaig’s Tower – let’s see Argyll keep the party going.

You can buy tickets online or you can buy them in person at either:

  • The Corran Halls Box Office
  • VisitScotland, Oban.

Oban is unchallengeably the most scenically charming town on Scotland’s west coast. It is THE setting for an event like this.

Imagine Hogmanay night without the party we’ve all got used to and which, last year, was better than ever in every respect.

It will be there to be part of only if we make a straightforward early commitment to be there.

Councillor Neil Mackay, a driving force in the event, says, starkly: ‘Use it or lose it’. Use it.
