Blythe Duff, DC Jackie Reid from the resonant Glasgow TV crime series, Taggart, has given her unqualified support to the organisers of the campaign to save the Mid Argyll Swimming Pool.
And, as a city woman – a no-mean-city woman, she has both an interesting take on the situation and a profound puzzlement about it. And she has sharply identified swimming as ‘a life skill’.
She says: ‘It seems wrong, in the run up to the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, that young people living in the cities should benefit from such wonderful sporting opportunities, while those living in more rural communities should be disadvantaged.
‘As a non-swimmer, I don’t think anyone should go through their life missing out on the life skill that swimming provides…. not to mention the fun!!’
If this crime does not get resolved soon, there’ll be plenty of people to lead DC Jackie Reid to the exact places where the bodies are buried.
Andy Paton, himself a committed supporter of the pool, cast the net in Blythe Duffs direction and presented her support to a very grateful Board.
