Creggans Inn

Cowal Open Studios (COS) members, fresh from – well, refreshed after -  a successful and rewarding event in September,  are getting ready to flex their creative muscles for Xmas – on Sunday 6th December from 11.00am-4.00opm at the cracking Creggans Inn near Strachur (pictured above).

Several of the group will be participating in the very first Creggans Xmas Cracker, along with Makers and Artists from Bute and members of the Glasgow Craft Mafia.  This collaborative event will bring together 23 artists and makers from across the Cowal Peninsula and further afield, showcasing innovative, unique and beautifully crafted gifts at a time of the year when we’re all looking for inspiration for presents.

From jewellery to bespoke wooden and ceramic bowls, handcrafted furniture, textile art and original art prints, cards and ephemera, there will be something to tempt the most discerning of buyers – and all without the stress and mayhem of city centre shopping (and Glasgow is already horrendously crowded from morning to night).

Bob Brown, John Caunter, Rosemary Graham, Anne Hewitt and Jenny Marshall are just some of the COS artists who will be in the Creggans Xmas Cracker, along with Alison Clarke, Jessica Herriot, Ray Beverley, Shirley K Lloyd, Amy Beverley and Evelyn Smithies from the Bute Makers group.

There will also be a number of other local Artists and Makers from Cowal and three representatives from the Glasgow Craft Mafia – the rainbow effect, Rosie’s Retro Styling and Carrot Coriander – all bringing their own unique brand of crafting to the area.

So if you want to experience some of the best of Scottish Arts and Crafts in beautiful surroundings, with access to great food and drink (there’llbe some cocktails in the offing), pop along to the Creggans Inn, Strachur, on Sunday 6th December (11am–4pm).

The event is a blend of an artists and makers market, with entertainment and food. It’s designed to let you enjoy a glorious afternoon in festive surroundings, complete with the Heavenly Choir from DGS, a pampering Beauty Angel, lots of delicious food and drink, from Sunday lunch to High Tea – and a few festive cocktails thrown in.

For further details or to enquire about beauty bookings, please phone 01369 860279 or visit the Creggans Inn website.
