Coastal Connection, run out of Oban by the energetic brothers, Cameron and Struan Smith, has a schedule of water-borne trips on the slip for the month of December.

You’re advised to call for information (01631 565833 or Mobile 0791 9615210 – both available 24/7) as trips may vary from the plan for weather and other reasons but, on a weekly basis for December, this is the menu:

  • Mondays:  Wildlife trip 14.00 £35p
  • Tuesdays:   Castle Tour 14,00 £35pp
  • Wednesdays: Wildlife trip 11.00 £35pp
  • Thursdays: Tobermory 11.00 £39pp
  • Fridays:  Wildlife trip 14.00 £35pp
  • Saturdays:  Tobermory 11.00 £39pp
  • Sundays:  Loch Etive 12.00 £35pp

This schedule will be running all of December and, in an exemplary spirit of enterprise, may add a run to Mull on the 25th of December and the 1st of January as the ferries are not running on those dates.

Coastal Connections also runs private charter where you can have the whole boat to yourself for 2 hours, a half day or a full day.
Please call to book your place.

The company runs two boats so the set trips are not set in stone. There is flexibility in the system – they’ll run the trip to Tobermory for a party of 4 – and should anyone miss a ferry for a key homecoming or event in Mull – you can guess who best to contact. Did we say ‘spirit of enterprise’?

And – a last piece of evidence, if you run out of ideas for Christmas gifts or want to giove someone a toally unexected present, Coastal Connection does Gift Vouchers. Examples of what a voucher for a particular value buys include £39pp for a Tobermory trip, £35pp for a wildlife trip or £250 for a whole boat charter for 2 hrs.

The company sees the £39pp Voucher as the most popular as it gives a full day out up and down to Tobermory.

However, given their inventiveness and committed approach to their business, if you wanted a different trip, it would be uncharacteristic if Coastal Connection wasn’t interested in working something out with you.

The Smith brothers deserve to succeed. They’re on call 24/7. They’re ready to work on Christmas Day and on New Year’s Day, they’ll respond to need and demand and they’ll custom devise for you. This is what business is all about.
