Sustainable Oban led a candlelit vigil at the North Pier yesterday evening – Saturday 12th December – as part of the simultaneous series of worldwide vigils organised to call for a genuine deal for Climate Change to be sealed at the Copenhagen summit.
Local activists gathered on a freezing but starlit night in Oban to join the world-wide call – one of over 2900 events in 136 countries.
Margaret Powell-Joss of Sustainable Oban says: ‘It was fantastic knowing that we were joining thousands of like-minded people all over the world’.
The photograph above shows a section of the vigil-keeping group on the North Pier. The conditions tested the strength of their opposition to global warming?
