Inveraray’s Eden Deli passes first birthday and…

… promises to make your Christmas a foodie one. A notably successful local business that has quickly become  – literally, part of the staple diet of the town of Inveraray, the Eden Deli, has now passed its first birthday.

The business has also become a major outlet for Argyll’s specialist food producers, selling everyhting from the raw material like Aberdeen Angus beef from Ifferdale Farm in Saddell in Kintyre to the ready-to-go like the unforgettable Bumble’s Puds – a huge success at the two Connect Music Festivals. And of course, Barbara Burden, former cook to the 12th Duke of Argyll and, with Alison McKay, a partner in the business, prepares a set menu – and commissions – of take away meals daily.

As well as their Christmas gift specials – like hampers, the Eden Deli has a menu of take away meals designed for the festive season: Start the juices running with a small sample of what’s available:

Starters

  • Salmon terrine (serves 4-6) £12
  • Stuffed mushrooms (2.95
  • Filo parcels wth Stornoway Black Pudding

Main Courses

  • Glazed hams – home cooked, priced per kilo at £12.99
  • Venison Casserole (for 2) £10.50
  • Fillet of Beef Wellington £8.50
  • Cheesy garlic potatoes (for 2) £4.50

Puddings

  • Chocolate Roulade with seasonal berries £15.00
  • Lemon Tart – each made with 9 lemons, freer range eggs and sweet pastry, £11.50
  • Whisky cake £6.25
