- Walsh to lead all but Lib Dems, Conservatives and George Freeman
Well I would be very surprised if there is not a little sting in the tail to come .
Everything is just starting two warm up and with the charectors we have in Oban especially the fun will continue sadly. How Dick Walsh operates now with a free rein should be interesting especially when the money posts are filled..
Some of the proposals being brought forward by the senior management are built on fresh air so with a change in control of Area committees will they be challenged?. We will watch with great interest.
Cheers Neil. - SNP meeting on Monday may be testing time for mega-coalition proposal
Do we call him Fletcher or Mackenzie? - James Robb, as the cordite clears
Come on folks lets rejoice if indeed Fletcher is Mike MacKenzie surely we all should be happy the SNP have found something for him to do and his close relationship with Dick Walsh will be of great benefit to the SNP councillors when they line up behind him in the new Administration.
You never know Dick might be a closet nationalist now that would need a fair bit of spin to keep the ground troops happy but I am sure the SNP will help him see the light. I think big Sally has plenty in her executive suite in Kilmory.
When will anything start to happen in Argyll apart from this farce.

Very interesting newsroom so the SNP are now big buddies with Dick Walsh. What will poor Fletcher make of it?
Surely there will be another revolt within the party ranks at this alliance with the enemy or was it all the fault of the Tories and Liberals the last time.
The Schools debate when it raises its ugly head again will bring us back to square one so where does that leave the SNP.
If the numbers stack up like you say what,s the point of the opposition why not just pitch in together and use the experience of councillor Freeman and the rest without them having to join a certain group which seems to be a stumbling block. After the shambles of the last few months we can ill afford to sideline the input of experienced councillors who are not just there for the money.
The Argyll people who voted these councillors into office deserve to have them representing them properly especially after what we got from the SNP.
Cheers Neil. - Council latest: meaning well is not enough
I take it Ian by modernisers you mean Breslin and Hall as the other councillors have been around for a while.
So what will they bring to the table that we can look forward to.
Cheers Neil.

Why bothering writing to the CE, just nip into her office as “we understand” or should I say “it is rumoured” that Mike is the unofficial real leader of the “New Dawn” administration. Would it not have been better to have a wee word in Roddy’s ear and let the administration get the credit for the idea? Or is this an indication of the way its going to work? Mike says….

It’s interesting that you think such a cast of well-educated, self-motivated councillors is under the thumb of someone else. Of course the SNP is a team, but it’s a very democratic one and doesn’t support the scenario you’ve imagined here.

Important subject spoiled by aggressive undertones of point scoring against previous administration. Im very sure you would not have writen that, knowing that you have not already sorted it out.
Maybe you could now move on to the ferries and sort that out. However always good to know the out come before it happens.

Until the new council meet and the administration is ratified Roddy Mccuish and his associates have no control over the council or the employees so they will be unable to start to change anything until then

“Maybe you could now move on to the ferries and sort that out” – fair point Iain.
But I must confess I’m hoping for the usual outraged article going on and on and on and on about all the Cllrs who have sold their principles just to join this rag-bag coalition to get the responsibility payments.’Bought for 30 pieces of silver’ and ‘noses in the trough’ are both sure to feature.
Unless of course the SNP led coalition decide that they don’t want these responsibility payments…..

Yes Simon I’m sure that’s going to be the way, it does seem to be a sort of retirement plan or re shuffle thing for votes, but I think this time it will be diff, as most said or made out its not about the money anymore its about the area and I’m sure you will start to see Cllrs now forgoing these benefits / payments as a point of principle.
I don’t really have any political stand as it all seems to just get worse and the promises bigger and more out outlandish by the week, with as much back stabbing as poss.
What I find really annoying is newly elected Cllr’s with no track record to speak of slagging off Guy’s like Dick Walsh who most in Scottish politics could not hold a light to and only dream of a career / record like his. I remember only 30 yrs ago seeing Mr Walsh fill his car locally at the petrol station most mornings at around 7 in the morning and not always the same one (spread the love around)in a type of way? 30 yrs on its still the same, week in week out. I’ve never met another Cllr in all that time or seen one work so hard for the people of Dunoon, although it started before that i’m sure?
It makes me smile when you hear the trumpets of what we are going to do and how we are going to do it when we get in. Just that the trumpets stop not long after that and voices are not heard until the next election. there are Hard working Cllrs and that’s why they get back in, in most cases.
Personally I think Mr Walsh has done a truly incredible job of running the area in his time in office. Im glad that’s he’s not back in as Head of the Council as I think he may enjoy it very much more where he is now and has completed a very long shift for his area and ward. he;s better placed to actually make sure the administration get it right and stand by the election promises and not let them away with madness and really messing it all up.
The ferries thing will go away, but prob altogether now.
Anyway well done everyone that want to be a Cllr
Mr Walsh enjoy your new role of watch dog. Back to the pumps no doubt?

I very much hope that the more cynical of Iain Hurrel’s remarks prove, in time, to be unfounded – and perhaps early review of the council’s new events licensing policy would be a good start.

Can you clarify what the licence is for and why it is needed?
