Dumbarton Studios to shoot new submarine drama series

Tiger Aspect, one of the UK’s top television production companies, is to shoot The Deep – a high tension submarine thriller – at BBC  Scotland’s Dumbarton Studios.

The programme, in five episodes, stars James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver and ER’s Goran Visnjic.

The scenario will see the crew of the submarine search the seabed desperately for unknown life forms before experiencing their ship lose engine and settle, stranded and powerless, on the sea floor.

Transmission dates are not yet finalised but the series is aimed to start airing before the end of 2010.

The BBC is letting it be known that it is delighted with the quality of the scripts – by Simon Donald – and is obviously pretty chuffed with the cast Tiger Aspect has attracted.

Nesbitt fans would be advised to stake out Faslane. There’s bound to be a VIP visit for information gathering and consciousness raising at some stage.
