Crinan Classic Boat Festival back in 2010

Very good news from Mike Dalglish and Ross Ryan who run the spectacular Crinan Classic Boat Festival, energetically sponsored by Islay’s Bruichladdich distillery.

They’d thought of taking a rest this year – it’s a massive event to organise – but after a period of respite following their latest success with the event in 2009, they’ve just put all of us out of our misery by announcing that the Festival will indeed be back and giving the dates for the 2010 event.

2010 Crinan Classic Boat Festival

So – for the diary and already in our Events Calendar – it will run from 1st-4th July 2010 – and they swear the weather forecast for Friday 4th is sunny.

In the meantime Mike and Ross are offering a nostalgic glimpse at the photographs of the 2009 event, from John G Moore’s online gallery.  They say that the pics may have been slow in coming but they’re worth waiting for – we echo that.

2010 Crinan – Tobermory Classic Race

There’s also advance notice on this event from Mike and Ross – and again the date’s already in our events Calendar.

It will be on Saturday 10th July and entry forms will be posted on the winter website – linked above – in due course.

The programme is:

  • Friday 9th July: Meet in Crinan for registration in late afternoon/early evening with music and entertainment.
  • Saturday 10th July: Passage Race to Tobermory and then something rewarding – probably connected with The Mishnish.

Entry is open to all wooden sail and motor boats. More (the promise few) details will follow but will be kept simple.
