Youth and Community groups in Argyll are to benefit from Justice Minister, Kenny MacAskill’s Scotland-wide release of funds from the Cashback for Communities Youthlink scheme.
Delighted to see funding coming to a wide spread of Argyll youth groups, Jim Mather, MSP for Argyll & Bute, says: ‘This is an admirable scheme which assists with funding for youth organisations by using finance recovered from the proceeds of crime.
‘This is the third such distribution since the scheme was launched and with it a total of almost £3 million will have been shared out. This current tranche of £1million will benefit 234 youth groups throughout Scotland’.
The funding coming to Argyll totals £17,437.00 and the individual awards are:
- Islay & Jura Community Enterprises: £6,974.00 for a programme of events where young people will be involved in the decision making, development and ownership of the activities.
- Mid Argyll Youth Project: £4,273.00, to continue to provide young people with a safe & welcoming environment where they can partake in a range of activities.
