Sounds like an animatronics studio when everyone’s gone home for the night. But it’s a night of hot music by Unplugged at the Puffer Bar on Easdale Island on Friday 20th November; with NEWTS on the following night (21st), also in the Puffer.

Before outraged naturalists hit the Comment box below, imagining that these creatures – so beloved of former Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone – are on the Puffer Bar’s legendary menu, rest easy. NEWTS  – as in ‘pissed as’  – are the New Easdale Wine Tasting Society, displaying the island community’s characteristic wit.

So – to the details.

  • Friday 20th November: from 9.00pm onwards – Unplugged, with Alasdair and Chris Robertson bringing an eclectic mix of blues, Cajun, rock and folk songs. Alasdair plays guitar, accordion and harmonica, with Chris on a range of percussion instruments. Chip Butties at 10.00pm (better than pistols at dawn any day). Late ferry 11.00pm, weather permitting.
  • Saturday 21st November: from 9.00pm onwards – NEWTS with an evening sampling the best partnerships of wine and cheese.
