A man who has played a signal role in the Mull Eagle Watch project, protecting the awesome white-tailed sea eagles established there at the Loch Frisa Eagle Hide is PC Finlay Christine.
PC Christine, who has recently retired as Mull & Iona’s police officer, has been awarded one of the RSPB’s top awards – a President’s Award. He is shown, on the right, above, receiving the award from outgoing RSPB President, broadcaster Julian Pettifer, at an awards ceremony in London.
This prestigious award was given in recognition for Mr Christine’s services to protecting Argyll’s wildlife and establishing the well known Mull Eagle Watch project. His many friends and admirers on and off Mull – which include the RSPB’s Mull Wildlife Officer, Dave Sexton, will be delighted that the value of what Finlay Christine has done has been celebrated in this way.
For those reading this article and interested in visiting the Eagle Hide at Loch Frisa – it is still open and doing well this autumn and early winter. Call 01680 812 556 to book a trip.
And Autumnwatch fans will be pleased that the new RSPB President is Kate Humble, currently to be seen on this season’s Autumnwatch on Fridays at 8.30pm on BBC Two.
