Jamie McGrigor, Argyll-based Highlands & Islands MSP, is sending the following request to the Bank as a follow up to the letter he sent last week on behalf of Islay businesses.
‘Given the level of concern and disquiet that my constituents on Islay are expressing to me about this issue, I hope that HBOS might consider postponing its decision to remove the much respected business banking manager on Islay this week until these genuine worries can be addressed and alternative options are considered’.
Jamie McGrigor is supporting For Argyll’s call for the removal of the HBOS business banking manager on Islay to be suspended until the situation can be resolved.
The manager in question is due to leave the island this week. Suspension of this action would leave Islay businesses with the necessary support systems while the banks, the Scottish Government and the Financial Services Advisory Board make a sense of this mess that does not cripple a formidably self-sufficient island.
