As they say, you can’t win ‘em all. Inveraray & District Pipe Band, whose stunning achievement in 2009were regarded with open-mouthed awe, could not muster enough votes to win the Pipe Band of the Year at the recent Hands Up For Trad Awards.
2009 has seen the Inveraray band unbeaten in its first year at Grade 2 – promoted several grades in one step from its World Championship at Juvenile Grade in 2008 – taking first in every major competition including the Worlds Championship and Grade 2 Champion of Champions and gaining promotion to Grade 1 for 2010.
But in an online public vote, the population you can command matters and the Haddington Pipe Band in East Lothian brought that successfully to bear.
Congratulations to them from Argyll for their energetic and inventive campaign; and reassurance to Inveraray & District – you are the Pipe Band of the Year.

On behalf of everyone at Haddington Pipe Band I wish Invereray and District Pipe Band all the best for 2010. We are not the greatest pipe band in the world but we do a tremendous amount of work in our community including teaching many youngsters pipes and drums.. When we received our nomination for the TRAD awards all our friends and families weighed in with magnificent support from around the world .
Best wishes
