Argyll welcomes one of the leading ‘new generation’ British pianists, Tom Poster from Oxford on Sunday evening (15th November) in Ardrishaig and on Tuesday evening (17th November) in Campbeltown.

Tom PosterIn 2007, Tom Poster (left) was winner of the First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition in Glasgow – an event which brought together 72 specially invited top pianists from all over the world. The event began life seven years earlier as the BBC Young Pianist of the Year.

Since 2000, Tom Poster‘s diverse and rapidly developing career as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician has led him to a range of major international venues. This year, for example, he made two appearances at the BBC Proms and as recently as last week was performing in Calgary, Canada, at the prestigious Honens International Piano Festival.

Mid Argyll Arts Association and Kintyre Music Club are delighted to welcome this outstanding young musician to their venues, as part of his current Argyll & Bute Concert Tour which also takes in Milngavie, Rothesay and Oban.

His tour programme is based around a ‘double-theme’, with all the works being strongly influenced and inspired by song and dance. As well as works by Mozart, Schumann and Chopin, he will include highly accessible pieces by Bartok and Stravinsky, with their starting point in melody and folk song.

Tom Poster’s recital is definitely one of the high spots in the MAAA and KMC music season. Young pianists (entrance – free) will draw pleasure and inspiration from this delightful pianist, for whom a warm Argyll welcome awaits.
