As we reported at the time, the Rev John Cairns Christie has been appointed Moderator Designate of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and will take office when it meets in May 2010.
Mr Christie was principal teacher of Science at Tiree High School from 1978 until 1984 and lived in Heylipol Schoolhouse.
