A83 closed today by articulated truck accident

The A83 was closed for several hours in both directions this afternoon (25th November), with a major operation to right and remove an articulated truck which had come off the road at Port Ann on Loch Fyne, east of Lochgilphead.

There were long tailbacks in both directions, stretching back east to Lochgair village on the west-going side.

The road was reopened after 4.00pm.

Interestingly, we received no official notification of the blockage nor did Traffic Scotland appear to carry any reference to it. Yet the A83 is a trunk road and Argyll’s main arterial route.

We found information published to the BBC website at 4.29pm and this was the only public note of it we could discover. This too was not fully accurate – ascribing the accident to a car that had turned over – but, credit to the BBC, they were the sole source of information on the incident.
