A normal day at the office with AnElephantCant

According to Brian Cairnduff, the talking half of Helensburgh’s An ElphantCant, this image shows no more than a normal day in the AnElephantCant workplace.

Phil, of course, has the brush – I guess he is about to be creative, or at least tidy up. (‘Phil’ being Phil Burns, the painterly half of the company.)

Brian says: ‘I am obviously reading something important and meaningful (that’s just the kind of guy I am) which I will then translate for Phil’s benefit into our all purpose Esperanto style Pan-European language, which we call Eurinal. (Sorry!)

‘And despite appearances to the contrary, I am not an air-head. My head is as solid and thick as the next man’s, I can assure you’.

‘The scene is in reality the WASPS studios, and we are preparing for last month’s open day. (This was one of the showings of the company’s waje – wall jewellery – which we’ve written on before, which has caught the buying public’s imagination and which is enjoying significant success. Brian goes on to to hope that the delicate female sensibilities of some site visitors are not too offended, pointing out that: ‘…as a small struggling enterprise, we can only afford one pair of trousers between us’. (In the photograph of them published in the Sunday Herald’s piece last weekend, they did manage one pair of trousers each. So they can do it for Scotland but one pair of trousers will do for Argyll?)

Going forward, as the latest awful corporate lingo parrots, Brian plans: ‘For next year I think we have to get Phil a strategically placed palette’.

(No surprise that the ZONK charity-giving scheme has emerged from the An ElephantCant team. For sheer inventiveness and joie de vivre, these guys take some beating. (Whoops, Shouldn’t have said that – bound to be a prompt for another leap of their combined imaginations.)
