Earlier today, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) was given the top Investors in People (IIP) award in recognition of its commitment to people, management development and learning culture.
Investors in People was established in 1991 to help organisations to improve.
SNH met all of the 39 required IIP measures, as well as another 87 measures, to qualify for the Gold Award. So far, only 2% of recognised organisations in the UK have achieved gold.
Peter Russian, IIP Scotland’s CEO, presented the award to SNH’s CEO, Ian Jardine, at SNH’s Battleby offices this morning.
Feedback from the IIP assessment included:
- the ‘considerable progress’ SNH has made throughout its IIP recognition
- the evident ‘top level commitment’
- the culture of continuous learning
- the ‘impressive management development programme’
- the cultural change SNH seemed to be driving.
Ian Jardine says: ‘It’s great to get this positive and objective feedback on how we’re doing. Our staff are enthusiastic and very committed to their work. I think this is reflected in the award. Of course, we must continue to work hard to make sure that our employees are engaged throughout our business, and that we listen to both our staff and the public at every opportunity’.
