Comment posted Devo Plus: enter the Trojan Horse by Willie Hutchison.
The Rangers finacial collapse , as that of other clubs, simply reflects the wider economic system where banks and many other businesses are founded upon underlying insolvency masked by a labyrinth of complicated financial procedures.
Selling tommorow’s income for money today (Ticketus) or bank derivetives or bringing exagerated future income projections for cash not yet recieved ( WIP) are all part and parcel of the edefice upon which all too many businesses are founded.
That’s what a government culture of light hand or non existent regulation delivers.

- Retiral at the first fence – Salmond will not challenge Danny Alexander
And I suspect a scalping there will be Newsroom – but for whom will the bells toll.
The SNP are in the strongest position they have ever been in and if the current polls remain, which is more than likely, there will be none or next to no Labour and Lib Dem scalps left in Scotland.
Salmond will be a fantastic asset to the post May 2015 phalanx of SNP MPs that will be heading to Westminster and I think everyone would love to see the big beast back in Westminster – save maybe David Cameron who will by now be thinking about ordering super strength pampers.
- Possible game changer: Prestwick Trumped for Turnberry – and more?
This does sound like a goodly dose of marketing blurb – not that that is always a bad thing.
Yes Prestwick would be an ideal place for upmarket well heeled golfers to land their private jets, but so is Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen.
It takes a lot of landing fees to run an airport and surely no one is suggesting that well heeled golfers will sustain Prestwick Airport as part of the Trump Empire.
What is most likely is that Trump with his involvement with Turnberry would like to market Prestwick as part of the Trump Estate…….and you can imagine marketing along the lines of trumpeting the benefits of gatewaying Trump Turnberry through Trump Airport.
I mean John Lennon doesn’t own Liverpool Airport nor does John F Kennedy in New York – but they carry the name.
So to get this in perspective, what I suspect we’re looking at is the Donald wanting to loan Prestwick the Trump name to promote his involvement in Turnberry.
It might help tourism at Turnberry, but so might marketing Prestwick as Rabbie Burn’s home airport where he used to fly in to play golf at Rabbie Burns Turnberry Golf Course.
There, and here was me thinking the Donald had chucked Scotland – but now he’s back, maybe he should lend his name to windmills – because he probably realizes now that he’s not the only windmill in town.
- Sturgeon now SNP Leader as Hosie tops poll for Deputy
Who is kidding who newsroom when you say the ” increasingly impressive Scottish Conservative leader, Ruth Davidson ”
You’ll be telling us Eggie Murphy will be the next First Minister next.
- In a party for whom 84,000 members are not enough for candidate selection, will Hosie’s elevation curtail Salmond’s ambitions?
I think it’ll play out just fine newsroom. Fabulous in fact.
Stuart Hosie is a skilled operator, so are the current others, and so is the Rt Hon Alex Salmond.
With a team like that at the helm, I think the prospect of a phalanx of SNP MPs will be causing a bit of discomfort for the the current Westminster elite – the Scottish Labour ones excepted because they’ll not be there post may 2015.
Fabulous, I can see a terrible price to be paid for Scottish patronage on all manner of matters.
Holding their feet to the fire was it someone said.
- Stepping down at Perth, Salmond tries to validate his failure by latching on to his party’s success
NCH – you are indeed correct when you say that the SNP are the most successful party in Scotland, if not the UK.
But the SNP are successful because they are the choice of the people. Much as the other parties will try to spin it, or they are not the people’s choice – and they are being rejected.
Indeed with the recent huge surge in party numbers, a huge boost in the polls, and now the first female First Minister and a popular one at that, name calling Alex Salmond is petty spitefulness.
And yes, Eggie Murphy who is Ed’s man in branch office Scotland will ensure Labour’s total and utter collapse – before he beetles off for a safe Tory seat somewhere down south.
So yes NCH, the people are making their voice heard and the SNP are speaking for them – and not the multi millionaire Westminster elite of Cameron, Farage, Johnstone or Clegg who don’t represent Scotland’s interests in the slightest.
