The Argyll & Bute Agricultural Forum, with Fergus Younger, is not only a site for an aspect of Argyll life well worth keeping in touch with. Through Fergus, it is also involved in the creation of a partnership website with Argyll & Bute Council and Highlands and Islands Enterprise which is a potential tourism support site – Argyll and the Isles.
Both sites promote significant Argyll branded initiaves like Food from Argyll and the new Argyll and the Isles site is well placed to take advantage of VisitScotland’s brochure for the area to be trialled under that name in 2011.
It will be important that, in the case of Argyll’s increasingly renowned food producers, the commercial wisdom of coming together under a single umbrella brand, as Fergus Younger is working to enable – Food from Argyll – is in the interests of all. Fragmenting the brand of what is already a newcomer to the market would be foolishly parochial.
Then the indefatigible Ron Steenvoorden, Netherlands-based Islayphile – and found in the island more often than not, has just added a new website to his formidable stable on Argyll’s islands. Check out the attention he is paying to Argyll’s Southern Hebridean islands. There is also a Twitter account where updates to this site wll be announced.
Who is not already familiar with Ron’s Islay Weblog, winner of the Best Community Website in the 2008 ForArgyll Awards?
