Dunollie’s MacDougall Clan Homecoming programme, with The Walking Theatre Company’s The Hidden Jewel (a drama born from the Brooch of Lorn) has been shortlisted for the prestigious Highland Tourism Award of Best Community Event.
Alongside this, The Walking Theatre Company’s Artistic Director, Sadie Dixon-Spain has been shortlisted with 2 others for the Leadership Award.
Both Catherine Gillies, who led the Dunollie programme and Sadie Dixon-Spain are excited not only for the recognition of exceptional personal and team achievement recognised in this shortlisting but also for the opportunity to underline the strength of Argyll’s creative industries.
It sends a particular signal that, in the midst of a mountain range of literally hundreds of events – most of them community events, The Hidden Jewel and the Dunollie programme are visibly higher peaks.
The shortlistings are great news for Argyll and pay tribute to everyone who helped make the event work – around 45 volunteers in all working in the Hidden Jewel, many young people.
