Herald says EU suffering from crisis of legitimacy

And if it appoints Tony Blair as President of Europe that crisis will disappear.

If the EU feels it appropriate to have, as its first President, a man who is tainted as deeply and as irrevocably as Blair, legitimacy is not an issue. It will have none. Ever.

Nor can the EU expect, under such a President, to have unlimited access to the range of states where a force for a coming together of conflicting views is so badly needed.

Like many people in many places, we’re watching this one.
