This is QE2 territory, of course, but today another Queen played the diva at Greenock’s Ocean Terminal – and like all show-offs, it was a love-us-and-leave-us-visit.
She came in at 8.00am and left at 6.00pm. Between times she offered the public a look at her from a viewing area and laid on a fireworks show before sailing off again as part of her 5th birthday tour of the UK.
While QE2 was a locally-built ship, Queen Mary 2 does the continental, with her birth certificate from St Nazaire. However, from today’s reactions to Cunard’s 150,000 tonne cruise liner, the allure of the French bird is as strong as ever.
