In an unexplained incident now under investigation by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), three members of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders have been injured (on 27th October) in a training exercise  in the Falklands involving live firing. They are reported to have been hit by automatic fire.

All three were airlifted to Port Stanley’s King Edward Hospital from  the Onion Range in remote East Falkland where the incident is said to have taken place. One of the three is being medically evacuated to the UK.

The soldiers’ next of kin have been informed.

Is should be emphasised that the MoD have not only not named the injured soldiers but have not identified the regiment in which they serve. However it is known and the MoD has confirmed that the only regiment currently deploying members to the Falklands is the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The specific battalion out there is 5 Scots, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
