Scottish & Southern has announced that it wil 2010 at the earliest before the giant hydro electricity generation plant at the new Glendoe Dam above Fort Augustus will be back onstream.
The official opening for the site was in June with the Queen doing the honours. Two months later, in August, the station was shut down following what is now described as a ‘very substantial rock fall which closed a tunnel carrying water from the dam above to drive the huge turbine below.
The rock fall is now known to be in the section at the top of the tunnel.
Scottish & Southern are working with their main contractor to establish how best to make the necessary and major repairs and to get generation restarted.
So serious a setback so soon into the life of the construction raises questions as well as being an embarrassment in what has been hailed as one of Scotland’s most ambitious contemporary projects. It has also been unwelcome news for Scotland’s successful drive to create renewable energy supplies.

would you kindly ans these questions that would be lovly Why has this project been developed?
