Last night the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency’s (SEPA) ships, Norma, lifted off 5 crew from a fishing boat which had developed engine problems, dropped and dragged her anchor and drifted ashore at Loch Dunvegan on Skye.

Then the Norma  lifted off another 4 crew from a second fishing boat that had gone to help the first one and had been unable to prevent herself from going aground as well.

The Portree lifeboat was launched to the scene in support – but now we know that SEPA doesn’t just protect the environment from us. It’s a two-way deal.
