Oban Lifeboat launched at 14.27 this afternoon on an urgent medical evacuation to Craignure on Mull.
A middle-aged man had suffered a serious neck injury for which doctors were anxious to have him hospitalised quickly and couldn’t afford to wait for the ferry to make the transfer to Oban Hospital.
Two Paramedics from Oban Ambulance Station went with the lifeboat.
The Lifeoat did the journey from Oban to Criagnure in 35 minutes, coming alongside at Craignure at 15.02. It got the patient onboard and was off again in 9 minutes flat, at 15.11. The injured man was landed back in Oban in 34 minutes at 15.45 – and the fast lady, Mora Edith MacDonald was re-fuelled and ready for service again at 16.02 hours. Total time taken: 95 minutes.
