The media campaign is underway to draw attention to the Tiree Wave Classic – the exciting and visually stunning surfing event on Argyll’s ‘sunshine island’ of Tiree, running this year from 10th-16th October.
The Daily Record has carried an interview with top Scots amateur windsurfer, Scotty McDowell, on windsurfing, the Tiree Wave Classic and the life of a surfie.
For Argyll is ahead of the game, though. We’ve already carried a major feature: Another art: the Tiree Wave Classic. This has fabulously mouthwatering – well, mouth-drying, perhaps – photographs, produced in collaboration with Rachel Cavers from GMF Co, the company promoting this event.
For those out and about this weekend, GMF Co have another exciting water-based event on the Clyde at Braehead in Renfrew – ZapCat racing. With around 40,000 spectators expected at the event and over 100 hotel rooms booked for southern competitors alone, this event is an important driver of the local Renfrew economy. And GMF Co’s Gordon Ritchie says: ‘We even contacted God and asked for a respite on the weather and he has confirmed sunshine this weekend.’ Stuart MacMillan will be presenting the Celtic cup to the winner on Sunday.
