Oban 10th least affordable Scottish seaside town

A Bank of Scotand report on house prices and their relation to earnings has shown Argyll’s Oban in 10th place on the list of the least affordable Scottish seaside tows. It has a 5.1/1 ratio of house prices to average local earnings.

  • Topping the poll as the least affordable of all is St Andrews in Fife whose ratio is 10:5/1.
  • Wick in Caithness is the most affordable seaside town with a ratio of 3.1/1.
  • Eyemouth in the Borders saw the biggest house price increases from March 2004 – Marc 2009, at 140%

Apart from Oban, no Argyll town features in the top 10 of these three lists.
