Get to Waterstones in Oban tomorrow (16th July) at 7.30pm for the launch of Willie Melville’s book: The Story of Oban Lifeboat.

AS a member of the crew of the RNLI’s Oban Lifeboat – the busiest in Scotland, this is an account by someone who knows every second of what crews do, what they have to do and the conditions they have to do it in.

It’s not just the story that’s interesting here, it’s the source of the story – and the two together promise unique nformation well worth having.

We know from traffic to stories on this site that people are enduringly interested in the lifeboat service – and enduringly respectful of it.

We’ll report on the book launch and hope to have some interesting insights into the book itself in that report.
