  1. Kenneth MacColl Says:

This is a valuable “taster” for Mhairi Ross’s book which is to be published at the end of this month.Mhairi in tandem with her mother, the redoubtable Molly Livingstone, has a great insight into the lives and experiences of folk facing the challenges in a very different lifestyle from today.I note constant references -”C” company, St Valery, Rockfield School, MV Lochinvar – that recall events of my own childhood in North Argyll and names from stories that recall parents and grandparents’ memories. My father and uncle from Kinlochleven boarded in lodgings in Oban to attend Oban High school. The sacrifices made by their parents to finance this were awsome.

The Mhairi’s book is entitled Auld Claes and Porridge I look forward to reading it through.
