Westering Home at Islay’s Port Mor Centre

From 7th-9th August Islay will host Westering Home, a series of West Highland music and worshop events at the Port Mor Centre. There will also be storytelling and on Islay whisky is never far away. This event is part of Argyll’s programme for Homecoming Scotland 2009.

One Response to Westering Home at Islay’s Port Mor Centre

  1. We have just returned from an excellent holiday on Islay including a wonderful campsite at Kintra farm. However, our otherwise extremely positive experience was marred somewhat by the very disappointing afternoon we spent at the homecoming event on Sunday 9th August at the Port Mor Centre in Port Charlotte.

We were charged £10 each entry fee, which promised an ‘eat-as-much-as-you-can barbeque’, but seemed to be unable to provide us with a single vegetarian burger and offered a very uninspiring programme of music.

The contrast with a similar event we attended in Pitlochry, where we were entertained to excellent singing, dancing and pipe music plus good and reasonable food, could not have been more stark.

I hope that those organising any future event will take note and take note.
