Get your free flu jab

Only 40% of people under 65 and eligible for a free flu jab made sure they got it last year. This time around, the Scottish Government’s annual flu and pneumcoccal immunisation campaign has been running since the end of September. Jim Mather, Argyll’s MSP, is very concerned that a lot of people don’t know that that they are eligible for a free jab.

Too may think that it is only the over 65s who are eligible. In fact there are a great many people under that age who qualify – and who need to have this protection.

They include:

  • healthcare workers
  • carers
  • people suffering from conditions leaving them vulnerable to the side effects of the flu virus if they are not immunised against it

The injection gives protection for 12 months – and being immune to the virus protects others from catching it from you.
