Contents of Bute’s Ascog Old Manse go to auction

The contents of Ascog Old Manse on the Isle of Bute – the Ainslie Collection – are to be sold at auction, with no reserve, at Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh on Wednesday 14th January 2009.

Owners, Gilbert and Lilian Ainslie, are retired antiques dealers and lifelong collectors of a wide variety of furniture and objects. They are moving to Perth, have decided to sell everything and so have set no minimum price on any item. This guarantees strong interest in the sale, with the possibility of real bargains where bidding on specific items may be low.
