There’s something about the phrase ‘…to 2011 and beyond’ that conjures the Starship Enterprise boldly going where no one has gone before - and it’s not inappropriate. With the economy in its current state we’re all going where we’ve never been before, the Council are on Argyll’s control deck, enterprise is the fuel in the tank and ‘Beam me up Scotty’ is not an option.
Argyll and Bute Council has now published on its website a revised draft of its corporate plan agreed at a meeting last week. This is a consultation draft. The final plan will be agreed at the Council budget meeting in February.
This final draft sets out the Council’s priorities, goals and targets for the period up to 2011 and beyond. It is focused on matters that will benefit communities and it clarifies the ways the success of initiatives will be measured.
Talking about the agreement, Council Leader, Councillor Dick Walsh, says: ‘An awful lot has happened in Argyll and Bute in the last year. From the appointment of a new Chief Executive to the development of the Single Outcome Agreement. This review is therefore a more substantial development than originally envisaged.
‘The plan highlights the tough challenges we face as a local authority. Our key priority as always is to get the very best for the people of Argyll and Bute’.
