On 28th and 29th March 2009, Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop is hosting a Residential Feis Weekend for teenagers from 12 - 17, at the Scout Centre in Lochgoilhead.

This is the first teenage Fèis in Cowal. As the Fiddle Workshop is  now teaching in Dunoon Grammar School this seems a logical innovation. It hopes that the activities enjoyed as part of the weekend will be a particular attraction to the older children. As far as they know, Lochgoilhead is the only Fèis adding outdoor pursuits to a wide range of music and song.

These weekends give aspiring young musicians an opportunity to play different instruments, learn to play in a group environment, and learn some traditional Gaelic music and song. An ‘impromptu’ concert will be put on by the youngsters at the end of the weekend,  giving parents and family members a flavour of what was learned.

The event is organised by Fèis Cheann Loch Goibhle, the Gaelic arm of Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop. More details on Cowal/Argyll music and other events are on the Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop website.
