Scottish Water has completed the repair of the burst trunk main which caused disruption to the normal water supply in parts of Helensburgh this evening. The network is now recharging.
Properties which had their normal water supply disrupted will have it restored when the recharging process is completed.
All affected properties in the town will have a supply of bottled water delivered to their doors through the course of the evening. Scottish Water appreciate that this is not ideal but would stress that every possible measure is being taken to reduce disruption and inconvenience to customers until normal supplies are restored. The company has tankered in more than 300,000 litres of water today.
The cause of the first burst to the main on Monday will be investigated. The repair Scottish Water carried out to that burst was unsuccessful and that too will be examined.
The company’s priority today has been to complete this second repair as quickly and effectively as possible and to reduce disruption and inconvenience to Helensburgh residents.
Scottish Water has again asked For Argyll to offer its apologise to customers in Helensburgh for the inconvenience experienced.
