One of Argyll’s main wildlife environments, the Isle of Islay, has just had its annual invasion of migrating geese. The count on Friday 5th October, with the main volume already on the Gruinart Flats, was 26,625 Barnacles, 205 Whitefronts, 8 Pinkfoots, 21 Pale bellied Brents and 2 Canadas. The Islay website we keep holding up as an example of a superb community site has the full story and some great pics. Also see our recent story on the Scottish Natural Heritage goose-watch day on 17th and 18th October, watching the pink footed geese come in to Loch Leven.
