Argyll and Bute Council are launching a public consultation tomorrow (24th October) on the Loch Fyne Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) plan. This will guide the future development and use of the loch so it’s important that the views of all interested parties are made known to the Council. The consultation period will end on 19th December.
It’s purpose is to provide a framework to regulate and promote the development of aquaculture so that it reflects community views, avoids conflict with other water users and respects sustainability.
The consultation is for anyone with an interest in Loch Fyne and its surrounding coast. This includes local users of the area, community members, local and national organisations, local and national industry and the general public. The council is anxious to collect plenty of views, information and comments on the plan before producing final draft.
There will be two public meetings during the consultation. One will be in Lochgilphead on 11th November, at 7.00pm in the Community Centre. Another will be in Strachur on 13th November, at 7.00pm in the Memorial Hall.
You can get CD or paper copies of the plan by contacting the Marine and Coastal Development Unit: by post at Lorn House, Albany Street, Oban PA34 4AR; by phone on 01631 567972; or by e-mail at lochfyneplan@argyll-bute.gov.uk. The full plan is also available here on the Council;s website.
