The UK Film Council has awarded more than £50,000 to three Scottish cinemas out of £475,000 to 56 cinemas across the UK. Scotland’s innovative Screen Machine is to receive £28,965 to buy a new digital projection system. The Screen Machine is itself a magical object - a truck travelling the Highlands and Islands and unfolding (and re-folding) within one hour into a plush one-hundred-seater with a raked auditorium. Now on its second truck, the first began the adventure as soon as it was launched by being sent to Kosovo before taking up duty in the Highlands where it has made its mark in Argyll and beyond.
