The Gypsy Arts Festival Scotland is being run from 25th - 30th August by the Scottish Storytelling Centre at their Edinburgh base, in tribute to Mid Argyll’s Duncan Wiliamson whom they describe as ‘the great musician, storyteller and Traveller tradition bearer’. He was also a writer of tales such as The Horsieman. Duncan died earlier this year. A member of a family of travellers, he stayed in Furnace in his early life and went to school there. During the week-long event, Scotland’s best storytellers will lead guests from across the UK, including Helen East, Ben Haggerty, Richard O’Neill and Taffy Thomas.
The Scottish Storytelling Centre is also launching its Celtic Sagalands project at Mid Argyll’s Auchindrain Museum - between Furnace and Inveraray - on 31st October at 7.00pm.
