Inveraray and District Pipe Band world champions for second time

As we noted in our news item on the night of the World Pipe Band Championships, focusing on the main winners in the competition (icluding those from Argyll) – the Inveraray and District Pipe Band scored a remarkable achievement. They were made World Champions in two successive years and in two different grades. Last year they took the Novice Championsship and this year the Juvenile. Ironically, their Pipe Major Stuart Liddell coud not be wth them on the day – because he was playing with Canada’s eventual winners of the main competition – the Simon Fraser University band. The Inveraray Band were led by Dougie Campbell, Assistant Pipe Major.

The band’s next outings are at the Bute Highland Games this weekend and then the final major competition of the year at the Cowal Gathering in Dunoon on August 30th.
