No, it’s not an aircraft. It’s a kite-surfing move. And, in perfect conditions on Friday 22nd, Tiree’s Helen Thompson pulled not only F16s but S Bends, Rallies to toe, Kiteloops & Backloops on her new board, flashing the Thompson tartan. This was Round 5 of the BKSA championships at Balmedie, Aberdeen.
Her moves brought her a total of 140 points to finish in first place in the Women’s Pro KIte-surfing event. She is now within 260 points of the series leader, Johara Sykes Davis. There are two rounds left and Helen is in with a chance of beating Johara if she can take first in both. When the Balmedie event was over, Helen shot back to the sunshine isle of Tiree to make use of the windy conditions and to get in some extra training. Round 6 is at Littlehampton on 14-16th September.
And, by the way, if the name ‘Balmedie’ rings a bell – yes, that is where Donald Trump wants to build the Golf Course.
