Councillor Duncan MacIntyre, Argyll & Bute Council’s Transport Spokesperson expects that the Council’s commissioned appraisal of transport links between the islands of Seil and Easdale will be delivered in September. The Council should then be in a position to make an informed decision on the matter. The appraisal has been concerned with improving reliability of access between Seil and Easdale; improving the safety of those crossing between the two islands; and addressing issues around traffic and parking in Ellenabeich on Seil, the harbour for the short passenger ferry to Easdale. There are now seen to be two options: upgrading the existing ferry service and building a causeway from Ellenabeich and Easdale. Easdale residents have been opposed to the latter in the recent past and the appraisal’s final report will include further research on these options.
