Alasdair Morrison, former Labour MSP for Eilean Siar, appointed Chair of Gaelic Media Service

Alasdair Morrison has been appointed as Chairman of the Gaelic Media service - MG ALBA. by Ofcom. The appointment takes effect from this month and is for a period of four years.

Alastair Morrison is the former Labour MSP for the Western Isles who lost his seat in the May 2007 election. He was Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning for the Labour administration at the Scottish executive from 1999-2001. Earlier he had been a radio and television journalist with the BBC and he is currently Director of UBC Group Ltd, Harris Tweed Hebrides Ltd.
