Stewart Turner, head of Argyll and Bute Council’s Roads and Amenity Services has announced that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is now proceeding to license the airports at Oban, Coll and Colonsay. (Tiree, which will be part of the proposed scheduled services from Oban, has been an operating airport for some time.) While the administration takes time, the processing of the three operating licenses moves this important transport development within Argyll much closer to reality.
No information has been given on the current position in the standoff with Total Logistics Care at Oban Airport, a situation damaging to Argyll’s public profile and a cause of comment by site visitors on our ‘Yakking’ page. The last indication was that the matter would proceed to court, at a very significant cost to the taxpayer.
